Frostie the 20 year old, Bare-eyed Cockatoo goes big time! Frostie's video dancing to Ray Charles' Shake Your Tail Feather, was Shown on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today. It was so exciting, my husband and I laughed all the way through. I found this video of Frostie a few weeks back and have been hooked on it ever since. My African Grey and I love to watch Frostie dance, he is super hilarious! So, way to go Frostie! I knew you'd be famous.

SheSpeaks is a free service that seeds products to women for feedback and reviews. Members who “match” with a certain product are invited to try it out, sent the sample for free if they accept, and then asked to fill out a survey on the product and share their opinions with other women on the Web site ( SheSpeaks.com ). Now that sounds like the kind of fair trade we’ve been waiting for! When you join She Speaks you will fill out your profile first. This is important because that is how you get matched up with products or services to try. From SheSpeaks: What can I do to participate in more tests? Since only a limited number of members can take part in each test, we needed to create a system for choosing participants to invite. We try to be fair to all of our members old and new, while still getting our clients the best available group for the honest feedback and genuine recommendations that they deserve. Here is a list of some of the things we look at when we invite members to be in a ...

I've posted a new poll in the left side bar. I'm thinking of having a funny bird video contest. I'll leave the poll open for about ten(10) days. So if I get enough responses to have the contest I will set up a place to submit your videos for the contest. I also need to figure out prizes and how many winners/places there will be. Most likely prizes will be virtual gift cards, feature article on the type of bird (or other pet as the case maybe), or maybe I'll come up with something to send snail mail. I'll figure that out after I find out if enough people are willing to participate to call it a contest. I will enlist the help of a few friends to judge the videos. I won't judge because I want it to be totally fair and I don't want anyone to think I would vote for a friend or be biased. If there are not enough people to hold a contest, I will feature the videos on my blog for a period of time, eg: If I only receive 3 or 4 videos, then I would give each video 1(...

I just used World Wildlife Fund's Conservation Action Network to urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to stop ignoring the impacts of coal mining, including mountaintop removal, on our nation's threatened and endangered wildlife. I urge you to take action, too, at http://wwf.worldwildlife.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&page=UserAction&id=209 . Coal mining is devastating Appalachia and harming endangered aquatic life. Widespread and increasing mountaintop removal mining -- a form of mining in which entire tops of mountains are removed and the debris is dumped in valleys and sometimes directly into streams -- is despoiling hundreds of miles of rivers and streams within the Southeast Rivers and Streams ecoregion, which World Wildlife Fund has identified as one of the richest, rarest and most biologically important eco-regions in the world. A long-standing, overly general FWS "biological opinion" concluded that no coal mining operation an...

I just stumbled upon a site today( http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ ) that gives away free software downloads daily. Everyday they offer FREE Licensed software that you otherwise would have to buy. There are a lot of companies that offer FREE TRIAL Software but this is 100% totally free software. That means - not a trial, not a limited version - but a registered and legal version of the software will be free for their website visitors. The catch is that the software that is offered for the day is just for that day ! You have to download the software and activate on the same day for it to be free. Usually you have twenty four (24) hours to get the software available for the day. The download link will remain on the web-site for the agreed period of time, together with the review of the software product and the information about other products from the software publisher presenting the giveaway title. The free software will be 100% functional and without limitations, accept those provi...

I just found this awesome new website where you can watch hundreds of movies and TV shows. I've been checking out some shows and I have to say that I cannot believe how clear the picture is, there is no pausing, skipping or freezing. The show or movie is buffered before it starts so there is no sitting and waiting. Graboid delivers only working links, in high quality, at download speeds you can only dream of when using Torrents or peer to peer services. And of course you can just stream and watch instead of downloading. I think this is a great idea for people who travel with their laptops, bored kids on a road trip, and well basically anyone who wants to watch TV while away from their TV! Click here to check out Graboid for yourself FROM GRABOID: Getting started with Graboid is quick, easy and best of all, free. First you will need to download the Graboid application. This takes about 2 minutes with a broadband connection. Once the software is downloaded – install it, launch, and ...

Article Courtesy of www.avianenrichment .com , December 2008 10 Tips to Keep Your Bird Safe during the Holidays With the Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's holidays upon us we are all busy planning our family gatherings, gift giving and decorations. The season brings with it unique hazards that we all need to be mindful of so that we can assure that our feathered family members are protected: Pine and fir Christmas trees with soft needles are the safest. Avoid sharp needle trees and artificial tees with metallic needles. Also be aware that many trees are treated with pesticides as well as chemically treated so that they will last longer. Colorful ornaments and dreidels can attract the attention of our curious and playful companions. Birds should be kept away from metallic ornaments that can break into sharp pieces resulting in cuts and wood ornaments that often contain lead paint. Tinsel and angel hair can present entanglem...

The ABC Bird Conservatory has made big strides in saving the Thick Billed Parrot. Thanks to their great efforts the thick Billed Parrot (TBP) has come back from the brink of distinction. Ways to save Money , We're all looking for ways to save Time, money and Energy. Especially now with the Country's financial woes. What our futures hold only time will tell but for now, let me tell you some ideas I've found. Free Stuff: First of all there are tons of free items on the Internet , you just have to know where to look. Most States have a Free Cycle Site through Yahoo Groups and some also have, Cheap Cycles , where you can buy items no longer needed by people for a lower price than at the stores, normally, eg . just today i saw this ad on Akron Cheap Cycle (For Sale: V-Smile game console and 2 games $20.00) The game cartridges alone run anywhere from $15.00 to $20.00 in general. There is also a Free category on Craig's List. There are a lot of people who would rather give away unused items rather than throwing them away and letting them end up in a landfill somewhere. In turn there are people who need theses items that others don't want or use anymore....
