Bundle of Trouble, A Maternal Instincts Mystery

Mommy-hood, meets comedy, meets mystery, Bundle of Trouble is a bundle of emotions, you'll laugh, you'll wonder "who did it?" and most of all, you'll be intrigued, through every chapter.

Office manager Kate Connolly becomes a super-sleuth and a new mom in the same week. From the moment she and newborn Laurie lock eyes, Kate can't imagine returning to work after her six-week maternity leave, but in expensive San Francisco, she and her ad exec husband, Jim, need every bit of both incomes. Then a dead body is fished out of the bay and linked to Jim's estranged brother, George. Both the police and PI Albert Galigani, hired by the dead man's mother, believe that Jim and Kate know more than they're revealing. Kate is determined to find the elusive George and get some answers, but she soon gets in over her head.

Kate Connolly, a big fan of "To Do" lists  throughout the book, one example,

To-Do List:

1. Take Laurie to her one-month wellness appointment.
2. Visit Galigani in the hospital, find out what happened to him.
3. Find George.
4. Interview Kiku (bring own water!).
5. Call Winter Henderson re: hippie chick alibi.
6. Read the parenting book from library.
7. Find the parenting book from library.
8. Oh yeah, diet, exercise, clean car, be good mom/wife, cook clean, and all that jazz.

{Excerpt from Chapter One}
Labor
The phone rang, interrupting the last seconds of the 49ers game.
“Damn,” Jim said. “Final play. Who’d be calling now?”
“Don’t know,” I said from my propped position on the couch.
I was on doctor’s orders for bed rest. My pregnancy had progressed with practically no
hang ups, except for the carpal tunnel and swollen feet, until one week before my due date when
my blood pressure skyrocketed. Now, I was only allowed to be upright a few minutes every
couple of hours to accommodate the unavoidable mad dash to the bathroom.
“Everyone I know is watching the game. It’s gotta be for you,” Jim said, stretching his
long legs onto the ottoman.
I struggled to lean forward and grab the cordless phone.
“Probably your mom,” he continued.
I nodded. Mom was checking in quite often now that the baby was two days overdue. An
entire five minutes had passed since our last conversation.
“Hello?”
A husky male voice said, “This is Nick Dowling…”
" Just as the phone rings with possible news of Jim's brother, George, Kate goes into labor with their first child, Laurie.http://dianaorgain.com/

The Thursday Three

Welcome to my "Thursday Three" My Thursday Three can be any three things you choose to share. My Thursday three for this week is 3 things that have given me a smile today.

My first smile today was watching my parrot Isabella take a bath in her water bowl and act like the crazy chick she is. Notice the wet neck & chest.

My 2nd smile today came from this video, it is so cute! This video is of a baby dancing to Beyonce's Single Ladies Music Video.

My 3rd smile today came from the hubby bringing home a box of donuts. I really don't need any donuts but they sure were good! No picture sorry, didn't think of it in time.

What made you smile today?

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Review and Giveaway

I recently had the pleasure of trying Tropical Traditions Organic Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. This coconut oil has so many uses it's unbelievable, well until you try it for yourself anyway. Then you'll be a believer too.

Now my husband is not a fan of anything coconut and around the same time I received my jar of Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil my husband went to his Dr. to find out his cholesterol and blood pressure were pretty high. We've always cooked with vegetable oil, olive oil, butter, you name it, we've probably tried it (even bacon grease in the fried potatoes).

Well after reading some of the health reasons for using TTVCO in the book I received with my jar of TTVCO, I decided to try to be a little sneaky. I've cooked almost everything with the TTVCO and so far he hasn't said a word. I even put it in the cornbread mix that my husband just has to have!

That's because even though the TTVCO has a great coconut smell and taste, when you cook with it, a lot of the coconut flavor cooks out. Although I can still taste it, maybe because I know it's there but my husband has not even detected the coconut flavor in any of the foods I've cooked in the TTVCO. I'm betting it's probably not hurting his bad cholesterol level either!

I also have been using the TTVCO on both of my cats food, I use 1 tsp. in each cat's bowl of dry food, one of our cats has long hair which results in coughing up hairballs (I know, it's gross). I've had the 2 cats on hairball control food for 2 years but he still does it. Since I started using the TTVCO on his food I've noticed a significant decrease in the amount of hairballs and their fur seems softer & shinier too. I use it in the food of my 3 birds as well and it has helped so much with their molts. They don't spend nearly as much time picking at the feathers, they have very active lives and seem very healthy and happy. The bird dust and dander seems to have decreased also.

I myself have some issues with diverticulitis and can honestly say that I have not had a single flair up since I started using Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil. My energy level has also gotten better.

Earlier I mentioned the book I received with my jar of TTVCO, aptly named "Virgin Coconut Oil' This book is full of information on the health benefits of using TTVCO, information on how the TTVCO is made, recipes, uses in pets, and lots, lots more.

You can learn more about TTVCO and how it was discovered here:

It's Time to go Blog Hopping Again

So it's that time again. Time for the weekly blog hop. This week's theme is "YOUR FAVORITE PHOTO(S)". It's time to show off your latest photos that you love. So one of my favorite photos is a picture of my 1968 Mustang, but I won't use it again because I already used it in another blog hop.

This is one of my favorite pictures. It's my Friend's daughter who just lost her two front teeth and my bird Harold decided he might like to hang out on top of her head...lol.

This is a recent picture from this past weekend. I love this picture because it's a picture of my son opening his Birthday card with the key to his car in it for his 16th Birthday. The huge smile on his face says it all! A good time was had by all and I may be prejudice but I think I have one of the best son's in the world!

This giveaway has ended! Winner to be announced soon! Bake Me A Wish Gourmet Cake Review and Giveaway

Welcome to my very first blog review with a giveaway! Good luck to you and me both!

When you think about eating your favorite dessert, what comes to mind? Now, imagine that being 10 times better. Are you with me so far? You know, the dessert that is so good it makes you feel all warm and gooey inside while it's melting across your taste buds until you feel a sense of euphoria. Okay, that may be a tad over board but you get my drift.

Recently I had the pleasure of trying a gourmet cake from Bake Me A Wish. We tried the Peanut Butter Mousse cake. Let me tell ya, I had no hesitations about doing this review! I asked my son to help me with this review,(he picked the cake) he was quick to say yes. Of course, he's a teenager, do you know one who doesn't like cake? Sadly for him he went on vacation with relatives the same time I received the cake. I say sadly because I really liked this cake and so did a few friends of mine so, my son only got one piece, the last piece! (Don't judge me, I did save him a piece after all!) ha ha! My son did say he'd buy it every day if he could, so thumbs up there. All of the cakes also come with a personalized plaque made from Belgian chocolate. It was awesome too!
(I never got a chance to take a picture of the actual cake before it was cut into) Although, this is a picture of the same cake we tried.

Bake Me A Wish has my family's seal of approval on their cake. They have many types and flavors of cakes to choose from, it was really hard for us to settle on just one to try. Besides their chocolate cakes they also have carrot cake, coconut cream, vanilla bean, etc... and an assortment of coffee cakes as well.

A little about the Company,

Remember the excitement you felt as a child when your birthday cake was carried into the room? At Bake Me a Wish!, we believe we all still have some of that child inside of us, and our goal is to help you recreate that excitement and experience for your friends, clients or loved ones.

Bake Me a Wish! is the premium nationwide service for delivery of gourmet birthday cakes. Our cakes are made with only the finest, freshest ingredients by an award-winning family run New York bakery that also supplies pastries to some of Manhattan's most elite restaurants.

Through careful cost control and air-tight delivery systems, we are also happy to be able to bring you our fine cakes at an extremely affordable price. Now, whether it's your son in college, your trusted associate, your old friend, or your granddaughter across the country, you will always have a simple and wonderful way to remember them on that important day of the year.

Plus, with our Bake Me a Wish! Calendar, we can keep a record for you of any and all important birthdays so that you never accidentally forget the special people in your life. We will automatically send you a reminder asking if you would like to deliver a cake each time one of your selected dates is approaching.

We believe there is no better way to celebrate that special day of the year than to send a little indulgence from someone who cares.

Our Guarantee: Delivery On Schedule

Bake Me A Wish also has something very special that they do for our soldiers over seas. It's called "Operation Birthday Cake" 5% of your order will also be contributed to Bake Me A Wish!’s Operation: Birthday Cake, which, partners with Soldiers’ Angels and donates birthday cakes each month to soldiers overseas. You can also donate directly to the cause by contacting Bake Me A Wish. Plus, when you purchase the "Freedom cake" for a recipient here in the US, Bake me a wish will deliver a gourmet cake to a soldier serving overseas in the name of your recipient.

So, now that my family has tried some decadence from Bake Me A Wish, it's time for your family to have the same experience! One of my lucky readers will get their very own cake delivered right to their door. The winner will receive the Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake

YouData, It's Time to Take back Your Ad Viewing and Get Paid!

I found something that I think you will like. The company's name is YouData (youdata.com). They are trying to convince consumers like us that we should be the ones controlling our own data and selling our own attention, not third parties like broadcasters, newspapers, and spammers. By creating a MeFile at YouData.com, I now control what ads I see and when I see them. Best part - I am selling my attention directly to interested advertisers, for real money. That's right, I get paid for giving them my attention. I can use the funds to buy music and video online, donate to charities, give to my favorite blogs and websites, or keep the change myself and do whatever I want with it.

It's real. They pay. You should check it out.

Lets All Do The Blog Hop!

Hello all, If you don't already know my name is Lisa Miller. I'm a wife, mother of 2 boys, Bird Mama of 3 and I'm also owned by 2 cats. By day I'm a blogger (or at least I try to be) and Twitter-aholic. My husband and I love to ride our motorcycle or drive one of our Antique hot rods on the weekends. We're pretty much home bodies most of the time though. I've been writing this blog for about a year now and have been learning along the way, and there is still tons more for me to learn! I just got started with some products to review and next week will be my first ever blog giveaway! I love to try new products! I've been taking online surveys and reviewing products for years. My friends always come to me for advice about products too. So, I thought what better to do than publish my reviews, and even better yet, give the products away to my readers! So I hope you'll come back and follow my blog so you don't miss out on any giveaways.

Coming Soon! My First Giveaway!

Make sure you check back here later in the week. I just received my first product to review and then I'm gonna give one away! It could be yours! Trust me, this is going to be a "Sweet" Review!!
I'm not sure which part I'm more excited about, trying it or giving one away.

I'm PR Friendly

Mom Blogger/Reviewers are quickly becoming a great media outlet for companies and their products.

I've been writing my blog and doing some other online things for the last few years for some extra cash, but that's not really my mission. I've finally started to get to the niche I've been after, reviews and giveaways. I've been doing online surveys and reviewing products for about 5 - 6 years now. I really love to try new products/services before others and then share my opinions about them.

I do not want to do this for money, just the opportunity to honestly test and review products and services in exchange for the product to try, and evaluate. I'm also open to doing straight giveaways without a review as long as the prize is shipped to the winner by you. Also in the case of a review and giveaway, the product/service reviewed will not be returned unless we come to an agreement about the product/service before hand and You are still responsible for shipping the prize to the winner of the contest/giveaway. We can make arrangements ahead of time to ship the prize to me and then I send it on, otherwise it's up to you.

If I do not feel a product or service is right for myself or my family, I will let you know right away but I'm pretty much open to try just about anything.
I prefer emails but will accept phone calls when absolutely necessary. I don't have the quietest household, I own 3 noisy birds, so you can see why I prefer email.
If you need further info, please don't hesitate to contact me at lisamiller@neo.rr.com

Read Ezra's Story

Used with permission and As written by Ezra's Mommy, "Manic Mother" on her blogger.com Blog

Please help my family kick cancers ass!

I don’t even know where to start this post…its going to be hard to write, as I am already choking back tears and haven’t finished the first sentence. I am taking some hours away from the hospital, to write this and to try to clear my head.

As many of you know my youngest son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) 2 days ago, the day my world fell out from under me.

We took him to the Dr. the other day because he was bitten by either a spider or a tick. Shortly after we noticed the bites we saw he wasn’t feeling well, kind of lethargic, and not eating much, he also was limping in one leg. I assumed he was having a reaction from the bites.

They did an x-ray of his legs to make sure he hadn’t fractured anything as a precautionary measure. The x-ray showed he had some abnormalities in his bones.

We are in the grocery store and I get a call from his pediatrician, he tells me I need to take him to the ped. oncology tomorrow. That it could be cancer. My world is spinning now, we walk away from our filled grocery cart, and head back home. Panic starts to set in.

It still is not making any sense. Ezra has been a perfectly healthy baby. He shows none of the typical symptoms of ALL. Besides being pale (but we all are), and the limp that just showed up. He is healthy, or so I thought. How do you go from a limp to leukemia?

After seeing the pediatric oncologist we are still hopeful, since he also says he doesn’t see any of the symptoms. So they take some blood and we are on our way.

That night we get a call from him, and our told to take him to the ER. We rush our baby off in the middle of the night. At the ER my husband and I have to endure things no parent should ever have to see, I don’t think I can go into detail. Just imagine blood curdling screams from your baby, like nothing you have ever heard.

We are told later that night that it probably is leukemia. Still have to wait for final lab results though. Sure enough he has cancer. Holy shit, my baby has cancer.

He is doing good so far, he had surgery to place a port in his chest so they can administer the chemo, and that went well. He has had 2 rounds of chemo already, and is staying tough.

His spinal test came back negative, meaning the cancer had not yet spread to his spine and brain…we caught it really early.

Thank you spider.

The type of leukemia he has is the most treatable type, it has the highest remission and cure rate. Silver lining perhaps?

That doesn’t take away from the fact that he now faces 3 years of chemotherapy. 3 years.

Here is where we need your help.

We are by no means financially well off. I stay at home with the boys, and my husband works PT and goes to school FT. We live off of his little pay and student loans.

We also share a car.

We can’t afford a new one…or even a used one. I am going to be taking Ezra to the Dr. 2-3 times a week, there is no way we can share a car, with my husband having to go back and forward from school and work. Not to mention if he gets a fever I have to take him to the Dr. ASAP.

His insurance should cover all of his medical bills. Its just the other things we can’t afford.

We also need to make my home more suitable for Ezra, I need to have the plumbing, and ac serviced to make sure it is clean. Any bacteria infection can kill him. We just don’t have the funds to do so. Yes, my family is helping out some, but their means are limited as well. Not to mention much of their money will be spent flying down to help me (they live in MN).

I am a proud person, I do not like being a charity case. But given the current situation, I am swallowing my pride, and asking for any help you can give.

Even if its only a dollar, I would be thrilled.

If you don’t have a dollar (I know I don’t) , please help out by blogging about this, tweeting, stumbling, etc. I have seen how Mommy bloggers rally to help each other out in times of need, and I know you will all do the same for us.

I am putting a paypal button in this post for donations, and there will also be one up in my sidebar, which I know works. I don’t know if this one will work, its so confusing and my head hurts, but we need help ASAP so I am trying to muddle through this.

Please help in anyway you can, thanks so much, and keep the prayers and thoughts coming.

Taken 2 days prior to diagnosis!

I plan to write a ton more about this his experience, it helps me cope, and all the comments make me feel so loved.

Win Cash for Your Guess!

This is one of the easiest contests ever! All you have to do is listen to the secret sound and enter your guess as to what you think the sound is. you can replay the sound as many times as you want until you think you know the answer or just want to wing it and enter an answer.

Your only allowed one guess per day and your answer needs to be descriptive. Once you’ve made a guess, they will assess your answer and email you if it’s correct or incorrect. If it is correct, however, they will also be on the phone!

Save the website in your "Favourites" from the link on the homepage – you could be in line for a bumper win or even get first chance at an easy sound! First to guess correctly will win!

It’s simple and easy to play. All you need to do first is create a free account, and then you can start guessing. You can listen to the sound as often as you wish before guessing, then when you think you’ve cracked it you can guess once per day, per contestant.
